Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: San Diego or Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $185,500–$251,000 annually in San Diego.

What you will do

• Analyze large datasets and build models, metrics, and data/AI infrastructure for customer success decisions.
• Lead experimental designs, measurement plans, and decision science frameworks.
• Develop optimization models and simulation tools for service delivery, workforce planning, escalations, knowledge management, scheduling, and routing.
• Embed AI/ML solutions into real-time decision engines and operational workflows with Customer Success, Operations, Strategy, Product, Engineering, and AI Research teams.
• Design models, experiments, and minimum viable products with product managers, software engineers, and designers.
• Develop agentic capabilities for the Expert Network to streamline processes, uncover insights, and reduce manual work.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related field.
• Advanced SQL and proficiency in Python and/or R.
• 7+ years of experience with data mining algorithms and statistical modeling, including clustering, classification, regression, decision trees, neural networks, support vector machines, anomaly detection, recommender systems, sequential pattern discovery, and text mining.
• Deep understanding of Generative AI and other evolving technologies for extracting insights from multimodal data.
• Expertise in experimental design and multivariate/A-B testing.
• Experience with linear programming, integer programming, constraint optimization, and simulation modeling.
• Experience building and deploying operational models for staffing, queue management, or dynamic resource allocation.
• Familiarity with customer success metrics and operational KPIs including NPS, AHT, FCR, and agent utilization.
• Ability to formulate data-backed strategies for business growth and increased customer benefit, and explain complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
