Engineering Manager: Engineering Data Platform Enablement (AI)

Location: Hybrid, Seattle, Washington, US. The position is based at 500 Pine St, Seattle, WA 98101.

Salary: $166,000–$258,000 annually for Engineering Manager; $191,000–$297,000 annually for Sr Engineering Manager. Pay depends on location, knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead engineering delivery across BigQuery/GCP, GCP Looker, Metabase, and AWS workloads.
• Own platform reliability, incident response, production on-call, capacity planning, and deprecation of MicroStrategy and Tableau.
• Govern enterprise access provisioning, access policies, tiering models, provisioning workflows, and cost optimization with engineering, finance, security, and compliance partners.
• Establish LookML governance, development standards, deployment practices, data modeling, explore design, migration governance, and the Looker development lifecycle.
• Lead Conversational Analytics enablement, including Golden Query standards, agent development, adoption, token utilization, and capacity planning.
• Set technical direction, develop engineers, coach AI fluency, contribute code and tooling, review pull requests, and own hiring and team health.

Requirements

• 2+ years leading engineering teams with direct accountability for delivery and people development.
• 5+ years building software, platforms, infrastructure, or data systems.
• Hands-on Python proficiency or equivalent, with current direct technical contribution required.
• Strong cloud experience across GCP and/or AWS, with fluency in Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience owning access management programs at scale.
• Daily use of AI coding tools and a clear point of view on how they change team work.

Nice to have

• Data platform or BI experience with BigQuery, Looker, Metabase, Tableau, or MicroStrategy.
• Terraform and Kubernetes experience.
• Cloud cost optimization at scale.
• Analytics access provisioning in SailPoint IdentityNow through SCIM group synchronization.
• Hands-on Dataplex zone governance.
• Experience establishing an AI-first engineering practice.
• Familiarity with Conversational Analytics, LLM-powered data tools, or semantic layer patterns.
• Experience in large-scale retail, e-commerce, or consumer organizations.
