Technical Program Manager, Flight Software (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at the Torrance office, Los Angeles, California, United States

Salary: $165,000–$235,000 base salary per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own and maintain software development schedules, including sprint and release plans, integration milestones, and dependencies across hardware, testing, and software subsystems.
• Track progress, identify schedule slips and blockers early, and drive resolution with software engineers and technical leads.
• Coordinate flight and ground software milestones with systems, avionics, AI&T, mission operations, and customer-facing stakeholders.
• Maintain the flight software risk register, develop mitigation plans, and escalate schedule or scope decisions when needed.
• Facilitate program reviews and planning sessions and translate engineering status into clear updates for leadership, program management, and customers.
• Improve planning and tracking processes while supporting resource and capacity planning across multiple concurrent satellite programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of technical program or project management experience working directly with software engineering teams, ideally with embedded, flight, or other high-reliability software.
• Experience building and maintaining detailed schedules, tracking dependencies, and keeping software teams aligned with firm integration, test, or launch milestones.
• Technical fluency sufficient to understand what is blocking software engineering progress beyond reported status.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate schedule status and risks clearly and accurately.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, aggressive-timeline environment with shifting priorities and high ambiguity.
• The successful candidate must be a U.S. person under ITAR rules or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Experience program-managing flight software, embedded software, or firmware for aerospace, satellite, or other high-reliability systems.
• Software engineering or other technical background sufficient to critically review schedules and ask effective technical questions.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and schedule or status dashboards.
• Experience coordinating software milestones with hardware integration and test schedules.
• Experience supporting engineering resource and capacity planning.
