Software Engineer, Platform (Partner 16, Partner 18) (Developer Platform)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California, United States; in-office presence required 2–3 days per week.

Salary: $269,000–$314,000 for Software Engineer (Partner 16) or $301,000–$352,000 for Senior Software Engineer (Partner 18) annually.

What you will do

• Improve and support the internal developer platform and its associated applications.
• Build and maintain shared tooling, templates, and internal libraries that accelerate product development.
• Support observability, monitoring, alerting, production services, and developer self-service.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity and other teams to meet security and compliance requirements.
• Write developer documentation, onboarding guides, and runbooks, while iterating based on user feedback.
• Own assigned projects and services from development through production support and work directly with investing and operations users.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python 3, Rust, or similar backend languages, with willingness to learn new technologies.
• Experience defining and shipping developer platforms or internal tooling that measurably improved engineering velocity.
• Experience deploying services on at least one major cloud platform: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with containerized services such as Docker.
• Exposure to CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, CircleCI, or similar.
• Experience with production SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience working in environments that value rapid iteration, code quality, and operational excellence.
• Strong problem-solving skills, solid technical fundamentals, a get-it-done mentality, empathy, and effective collaboration with diverse teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes.
• NoSQL experience such as Elasticsearch.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code concepts using Terraform, Pulumi, or similar.
