Senior Accountant (Contract)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; 6-month contract.

Salary: $67–$100 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Provide accounting oversight for fixed assets, construction in progress, leases, and intangible assets.
• Review capitalization assessments and coordinate lease additions, modifications, terminations, impairments, and sublease arrangements.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, reviews, and variance analysis.
• Partner with Facilities, IT, Corporate Planning, Procurement, AP, Technical Accounting, and other stakeholders on projects, capital expenditures, lease changes, and technology implementations.
• Lead process improvements, automation initiatives, standardized procedures, documentation, checklists, and internal controls.
• Oversee outsourced accounting deliverables and support financial reporting, audits, and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field; CPA/CA or similar certification is preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multinational organization.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial close processes, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with fixed assets, lease accounting, and intangible assets, including IFRS, IAS 16, IAS 38, IFRS 16, and IAS 36.
• Recent SAP/S4 HANA experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams and driving accounting process improvements.
• Advanced Excel skills, strong analytical and independent research abilities, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• CPA/CA or similar accounting qualification.
• Recent SAP/S4 HANA experience.
• Experience within a multinational organization.
