AVP, GenAI & Agentic Data Science (AI)

Location: Portland, Maine, USA; other locations include Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.

Base salary: $133,500–$274,100 per year.

What you will do

• Lead strategic AI products, offerings, and capabilities focused on GenAI and Agentic AI.
• Lead the design, deployment, and scaling of production agentic AI solutions, including orchestration, tool use, RAG, memory and state management, multi-agent architectures, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Establish practices for evaluation, observability, monitoring, guardrails, governance, security, reliability, and responsible AI.
• Lead and develop Data Scientists, GenAI Engineers, and other technical professionals.
• Partner with product, Finance, Marketing, and Operations teams to integrate AI into business processes and digital products.
• Influence senior executives and translate emerging AI capabilities into scalable solutions with measurable business value.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred, with a background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or Operations Research.
• 10+ years of experience designing and building scaled AI/ML products or capabilities.
• Proven experience building and deploying agentic AI systems into production at meaningful scale within a large enterprise or business unit.
• Expertise in production agent architectures, including orchestration, multi-agent systems, tool use, memory/state, evaluation, observability, and human oversight.
• Deep expertise in LLMs, GenAI, Agentic AI, RAG, evaluation, and production AI systems, plus strong foundations in Data Science, Machine Learning, statistics, and experimentation.
• Experience with enterprise-grade governance, security, reliability, monitoring, operational controls, and responsible AI practices.
• Strong knowledge of programming, software engineering, DevOps/MLOps, and production AI systems; experience with tools such as SageMaker, TensorFlow, and H2O.
• Strategic and execution-oriented judgment in identifying where GenAI and Agentic AI are appropriate, communicating technical vision to non-technical stakeholders, and scaling ideas into practical solutions.
• Formal people leadership experience developing highly technical Data Scientists, GenAI Engineers, ML Engineers, or similar talent, with broad IT knowledge and solution architecture partnership experience.
