AI Engineer SME

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States; active Top Secret clearance and eligibility for SCI access with a CI polygraph required.

Salary: $95,352.72–$212,566.06 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the research, design, development, and execution of operational and analytic cyber capabilities.
• Build production-ready AI, ML, GenAI, and LLM models, pipelines, microservices, and inference systems.
• Develop training, evaluation, retrieval, structured-output, and tool-execution workflows with citations, provenance, and traceable analytics.
• Deploy and manage models using MLOps, CI/CD, containerization, monitoring, and distributed infrastructure.
• Integrate vector, graph, and relational data systems, including ETL, scheduling, parsing, ingestion, normalization, ABAC, and data lineage.
• Provide technical mentorship and drive engineering standardization across teams.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree with 10 years of experience specializing in AI/ML engineering.
• Hands-on experience deploying production AI/GenAI and LLM systems, including embeddings, multi-model and multimodal orchestration, reasoning, memory, and tool execution.
• Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus practical MLOps experience with MLflow, Azure ML, or Vertex AI.
• Experience with NLP, computer vision, reinforcement learning, temporal, spatial, geographic, or quantitative AI capabilities, including named entity recognition, contextual entity extraction, and entity resolution.
• Expertise in vector, graph, and relational databases; automated ETL pipelines; complex parsing; and schema-aligned ingestion and normalization of structured and unstructured data.
• Experience implementing data-layer ABAC and end-to-end data lineage tracking.
• Experience with air-gapped, hybrid, and on-premises environments, locally hosted GPU servers, hyperconverged infrastructure, container orchestration, distributed systems, and multitenant CDS.
• Proficiency in full-stack development and integration using TypeScript, React, Python, FastAPI, LanceDB, Lance Graph, PostgreSQL, Temporal.io, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience delivering and maintaining solutions in agile engineering environments.
• Ability to work on-site in Chantilly, Virginia.
