2027 Spring Co-op Biochemistry (Biotechnology)

Location: Waltham, MA; must be able to relocate to the office and work onsite 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for the full six-month co-op. Applicants must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. U.S. and Puerto Rico residents only.

Salary: $35.00–$47.00 per hour

What you will do

• Complete supervised laboratory research tasks and generate consistent, high-quality data.
• Develop and characterize vaccine candidates targeting respiratory pathogens, including influenza, RSV, hMPV, and COVID.
• Learn and execute protein expression, purification, and characterization campaigns using automated purification systems and methods including affinity purification, IEX, and SEC.
• Use bioanalytical tools such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, DSC, BLI, and CryoEM to assess protein antigens.
• Maintain experiment notebooks according to QA requirements and support lab maintenance and supply restocking.
• Attend group meetings and present experimental data.

Requirements

• Current PhD, M.S., or B.S. student in Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science with a biology background.
• Must remain enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
• Must be able to relocate to the Waltham office and work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for the full duration of the co-op.

Nice to have

• R&D experience from laboratory courses or other experience in biochemistry, cell culture, aseptic technique, or automated laboratory systems.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team under supervision.
• Ability to perform experiments from verbal or written instructions while learning and applying new concepts and research procedures.
