The Core Engineering - Software Engineering - Associate - New York (Java/Python)

What you will do

• Build and support common tools, platforms, applications, and hosted services for firmwide data use cases.
• Develop software and database calculations using Java, Python, Scala, Snowflake, Sybase IQ, HDFS, Spark, and related technologies.
• Design and support batch and streaming processes for data validation, enrichment, transformation, and distribution.
• Performance-tune applications by improving memory and CPU utilization and interpreting compute metrics.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for data platform capabilities and support front-end applications for firmwide use cases.
• Work with business and engineering users, review code, support production migrations, and oversee junior technical team members through the SDLC.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in a large investment bank, retail bank, or comparable financial institution.
• Software development experience with data structures, algorithms, software design, and core programming concepts.
• Experience with Scala, Java, Python, Spark, Linux, shell scripting, TDD with JUnit, build tools such as Maven, Gradle, or Ant, and the AWS deployment stack.
• Experience with one or more major relational or object databases and readiness to work with hirify.global proprietary technologies such as Slang and SECDB.
• Knowledge of distributed computing, SDLC, and the complete project life cycle from design through production.
• Ability to interpret CPU, memory, threads, file handles, and other performance metrics.
• Ability to multitask, manage multiple stakeholders, work in a team, and learn proprietary software coding when required.
