Senior AI Agentic Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Lake Oswego, Oregon, United States; onsite four days per week

Salary: $122,500–$168,400 per year; bonus eligible

What you will do

• Design, own, and improve pipelines for AI agents performing coding, documentation, and refactoring on secure, approved platforms.
• Define standards for agent supervision, code quality, version control, prompt libraries, agent skills, evaluation datasets, and guardrails.
• Lead modular, cost-aware architectures for scalable payroll systems; conduct security and feasibility reviews, prototype reviews, and author or review ADRs.
• Deliver complex frontend and backend features across React micro-frontends, APIs, authentication, messaging, infrastructure, and distributed services.
• Own unit, integration, and E2E testing strategies with automated continuous testing and explicit coverage targets.
• Mentor engineers, lead code and design reviews, influence technical direction, and connect engineering decisions to business KPIs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping and supporting production systems.
• Deep hands-on experience using and managing AI coding agents, including understanding their strengths, limitations, error tendencies, and appropriate trust boundaries.
• Advanced proficiency in prompt design, agentic programming, oversight, assessment of AI-generated code, and team evaluation and guardrail practices.
• Advocacy for ethical AI principles, including privacy, explainability, transparency, and bias mitigation.
• System architecture expertise and modern full-stack experience across frontend frameworks, backend services, distributed or event-driven systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience designing E2E test strategies and implementing E2E test suites.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond individual work.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ownership of relevant outcomes.
