Practice Director, Data & AI (Microsoft)

Location: Fully remote, United States only

Salary: $200,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Set the strategy and operating model for the Data & AI practice across data modernization and governance, AI transformation and solutions, and data infrastructure and operations.
• Build standardized offerings, reusable architectures, governance models, enablement assets, and scalable go-to-market motions.
• Lead complex customer pursuits, including discovery, architecture, proposal strategy, executive engagement, business cases, and transformation roadmaps.
• Advise customers on data readiness, governance, AI use cases, Copilot and agent adoption, responsible AI, security, and cost-controlled AI operations.
• Build and develop the solution architect team, manage capacity and resourcing, and align presales coverage with delivery demand.
• Lead Microsoft and other strategic partner relationships, while tracking pipeline, bookings, win rates, utilization, revenue, margin, and recurring-service growth.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in IT architecture, presales, or consulting, including 3+ years leading a practice, presales team, or advisory function in data, analytics, or AI.
• Proven success building and managing technical teams or practices and leading professional services, presales, delivery, or advisory functions.
• Deep expertise in data and AI solution architecture, with knowledge of cloud, infrastructure, security, data integration, governance, quality, RAG, agentic workflows, and generative AI.
• Experience developing go-to-market strategies, standardized offerings, delivery frameworks, repeatable methods, automation, governance, and enablement.
• Experience delivering complex customer programs, implementations, or transformation initiatives for data modernization or applied AI, including work with mid-market customers.
• Working knowledge of GPU and accelerated compute, AI-ready virtualization, AI security, responsible AI, AI FinOps, AI observability, and model or agent lifecycle management.
• Strong leadership, communication, executive-influence, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with leading OEMs, ISVs, and the professional services industry.

Nice to have

• Architectural experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Power BI, Azure AI Foundry, and other leading cloud data and AI platforms.
• Industry-recognized data and AI certifications, including Microsoft DP-600, DP-700, or AI-102, or equivalent vendor credentials.
