Process Safety Engineer I (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Northlake, Illinois, US; on-site

Base pay: $105,000–$115,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead Process Safety Management activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions across North American manufacturing sites.
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.
• Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners.
• Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process or project engineering within the chemical industry.
• Strong Process Safety Management experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ATEX, SAP, ICC, fire protection, or PFAS.
• Capital project management experience in manufacturing environments.
