Software QA / Test Automation Engineer (AI)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship with Public Trust is required for the FAA end client.

Compensation: $45.00–$75.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and QA standards.
• Implement unit, integration, API, performance, and end-to-end testing in CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop AI-driven test-script generation capabilities and improve testing coverage.
• Test Java-based cloud applications across AWS ECS, EKS, and Red Hat OpenShift in Development, Test, and Operations environments.
• Conduct security and compliance testing, including SAST/DAST integration, FISMA High controls, continuous monitoring, ATO documentation, and testing evidence.
• Collaborate with software developers, cloud engineers, and DevSecOps teams to identify and resolve defects.

Requirements

• Strong software QA and automated testing experience, including hands-on development of automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Experience with AI-driven test generation or AI-assisted testing tools, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with API testing, REST services, integration testing, performance testing, and CI/CD test integration.
• Familiarity with Java applications, microservices, containerized environments, and cloud-native applications deployed on AWS ECS, EKS, or OpenShift.
• Understanding of DevSecOps, secure software development, and federal security requirements, including FISMA High/FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, and ATO processes.
• Previous experience supporting FAA, DOT, or other federal government programs.
• Experience with AWS GovCloud, commercial AWS, and cloud migration testing, including containerized workload migration and rollback planning.
• Experience with GitLab, Tekton, Argo CD, container-based test automation, SAST/DAST/SCA/IaC scanning, SBOM, image security, secrets management, and policy-as-code.
• Familiarity with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, database validation, and Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain or hold Public Trust clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience across Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, and Red Hat OpenShift, including their platform-specific networking, security, deployment, and registry capabilities.
• Experience with AWS multi-account/VPC architectures, DMZ and private segmentation, FISMA High/FedRAMP High sustainment, STIG hardening, SSP/ATO support, ConMon, and POA&M.
• Experience delivering Scaled Agile work in mixed customer and delivery teams and familiarity with the Java-AI ecosystem.
