Business Analyst / QA – Test Automation

Location: Hybrid in Trenton, New Jersey, United States; local candidates only. Only work authorizations that do not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.

Salary: $73–$83 per hour.

What you will do

• Define and execute cross-platform regression testing at API and workflow layers for key initiatives supporting a New Jersey state agency and its HR Modernization initiative.
• Build and maintain automated tests for APIs and event-driven services, including integration into CI/CD pipelines and reporting to delivery teams.
• Build a reconciliation harness that compares outputs from legacy and new systems processing the same inputs.
• Analyze and categorize discrepancies, route issues for resolution, and log, track, and verify defects.
• Manage test data across environments with the Data Engineer using masked data sets.
• Report test coverage, pass rates, and reconciliation results to the Project Manager while maintaining traceable test oracles based on production output.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• 5+ years of quality assurance experience, including 3+ years of test automation.
• 5 years of test automation experience against APIs and event-driven services.
• 5 years of experience building reconciliation harnesses that compare outputs from two systems processing the same inputs.
• 5 years of experience with test data management.
• Discipline to source expected results only from production output and reject machine-generated expected values.
• 5+ years of proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira.
• Ability to perform sedentary computer-based work, repetitive keyboard and mouse tasks, and occasional movement around the office for meetings.

Nice to have

• Parallel-run or dual-run validation experience from a prior modernization.
• Familiarity with statistical sampling.
• ISTQB or comparable testing certification.
• Experience supporting State of New Jersey agencies.
