System Administrator, Operational Technology

Location: Onsite in Alameda, CA or Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required, up to 10%.

Salary: $122,270–$143,847 annually for employees working onsite at the Alameda, CA headquarters.

What you will do

• Administer SCADA/HMI, electronic procedures, operations management, control-system programming, simulator, AWS-hosted, and reactor-local platforms.
• Administer and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including query performance, indexing, backups, replication, and recovery testing.
• Develop APIs integrating design, operations, and finance platforms, and support software modularization and containerization.
• Coordinate data management for test systems and business operations and collaborate with stakeholders on infrastructure requirements.
• Support network segmentation, cloud-resource strategy, continuity of operations, monitoring, incident investigation, restoration, and escalation.
• Maintain configuration records, dependencies, procedures, access controls, service accounts, patches, and approved release and rollback processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field is preferred but not required.
• At least 3 years of relevant software or systems administration experience, including PostgreSQL database administration and cloud or on-premises infrastructure support.
• Required familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with GitHub or similar version-control tools, controlled software releases, server infrastructure, and translating stakeholder needs into infrastructure requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot software-platform, database, and connectivity issues using logs, diagnostic tools, and documented procedures.
• Knowledge of data integrity and availability for cloud and reactor-local systems, including operation during loss of cloud connectivity.
• Knowledge of API authentication, data exchange, error handling, software modularization, and containerization concepts.
• Ability to assess operational impact, follow approval processes, recognize escalation needs, and communicate technical issues to technical and nontechnical users.
• Role requires working in office, plant, outdoor, noisy, temperature-variable, and enclosed environments; using PPE and hand tools; climbing access equipment; and moving objects up to 30 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition or OPC UA communications.
• Experience with electronic procedures, plant simulators, or control-system programming.
• Scripting experience with Python/Jython and PowerShell.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting APIs or software integrations.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
