Sr. Staff ML Infra Engineer - Offline Infra & Training (ML)

Location: Mountain View, USA

Base pay: $174,000K/year–$299,000K/year, varying by market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Drive the end-to-end data platform and data quality roadmap for Search & Discovery machine learning efforts.
• Own, consolidate, and optimize data logging, processing, and ML model training pipelines.
• Develop and scale infrastructure for batch and real-time processing, monitoring, and debugging of ML experiments.
• Design and implement scalable ML-based ranking systems and online ML inference services.
• Partner with Data Scientists, Analysts, Product Managers, Indexing Platform Engineers, Ranking Engineers, and Data Platform Engineers.
• Research technical approaches for challenging development and integration problems, and coach and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in applied machine learning.
• Experience with machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with experience building production-grade ML systems.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, computer architecture, I/O, and memory tuning.
• Experience with Big Data and ETL tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Spark, Scala, and Apache Airflow.
• Experience with TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Experience deploying robust, scalable data pipelines processing petabytes of data.
• Experience managing mission-critical, high-throughput, low-latency services.
• Experience integrating applications and platforms with AWS and GCP.
• Strong verbal and written communication, meeting facilitation, presentations, and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Experience with ML platforms for search and discovery rankings.
