AI/ML Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States; onsite role with 10% travel. Relocation is not available.

Salary: $184,000–$253,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models for semiconductor manufacturing.
• Develop reinforcement learning solutions for scheduling, dispatching, planning, resource allocation, and other complex factory decisions.
• Build RL environments, reward functions, policies, evaluation frameworks, and simulation-driven training workflows.
• Explore policy optimization, model-based RL, multi-agent systems, hierarchical learning, Generative AI, agentic AI, LLMs, and RAG.
• Build scalable training, inference, monitoring, retraining, experiment-tracking, model-versioning, and observability workflows.
• Partner with data scientists, software engineers, cloud architects, and semiconductor domain experts to integrate AI capabilities into production and customer-facing products.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning, with hands-on experience building and deploying production ML systems.
• Strong Python development skills and experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
• Demonstrated experience developing reinforcement learning solutions, including environments, policies, rewards, value functions, and exploration strategies.
• Experience with modern RL methods such as PPO, SAC, DQN, Actor-Critic, or similar approaches.
• Experience training and evaluating RL agents in simulation environments and formulating complex optimization problems as RL problems.
• Experience with Git, testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and production software development.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI agents or autonomous decision-making systems, discrete-event simulation, simulation-driven learning, or combining RL with optimization.
• Knowledge of scheduling, dispatching, operations research, or industrial optimization.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, or MLflow.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, agent frameworks, or RAG.
• Semiconductor manufacturing experience.
