Scientist II, Production Analytical Chemist (2nd Shift)

Location: Austin, TX; the role is based at the Burnet, TX site and requires working onsite in a laboratory on a 2nd shift schedule, Wednesday–Saturday, 2:00pm–12:00am.

Salary: $71,500–$104,500 per year.

What you will do

• Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses using ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, XRF, UV-Vis, NIR, KF, and related analytical instruments.
• Document, process, transfer, and review analytical data for conformity, traceability, validity, and production or customer needs; take corrective action when required.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware or software issues with laboratory instrumentation, tools, chemicals, and consumables.
• Support continuous improvement, method development, method validation, and testing initiatives.
• Maintain sample integrity, chemical storage and disposal, laboratory cleanliness, safety, and quality standards.
• Present analytical data, serve as a subject matter expert on cross-functional teams, and train personnel in laboratory tasks and sample analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology, or a relevant field.
• At least 2 years of experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical instrumentation, including LC, LC-MS, IC, IC-MS, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and ICP-OES.
• Knowledge of ICP-MS and trace metals; cleanroom experience is strongly preferred.
• Advanced computer skills, including MS Office; LIMS experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and disposal and the ability to maintain a clean, safe workspace.
• Demonstrated ability to complete laboratory work safely, correctly, efficiently, independently, and on time.
• Ability to balance multitasking, independent work, teamwork, and time effectively, with meticulous attention to detail and organization.
• Strong dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, ability to perform routine repetitive motions safely, and advanced mechanical inclination.
• Experience operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.

Nice to have

• Cleanroom experience, trace-metals experience, and LIMS experience.
