Machine Learning Engineer III (AI)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end feature implementation for routing cost initiatives within an approximately 80-person navigation organization.
• Design, build, and optimize ML and data pipelines for highly trafficked recommendation systems.
• Develop automated quality-assurance, data-exploration, tuning, and outlier-detection tools using geospatial algorithms.
• Partner with data scientists to improve models that identify movement and traffic patterns.
• Mentor engineers and participate in code and design reviews.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including possible immediate responses outside normal working hours and on weekends.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of backend and machine-learning engineering experience, with extensive hands-on engineering expertise.
• Extensive experience with Python, distributed processing pipelines including Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, and Dask, and very large datasets.
• Experience with statistical analysis, data-quality control, and storage optimization.
• Extensive cloud and infrastructure experience, including deploying and managing infrastructure in cloud environments.
• Strong focus on clean code, robust architecture, quality, continuous improvement, and elevated engineering and design standards.
• Ability to own the technical vision, lead strategy, and guide execution for the routing cost engine.
• Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams and supporting skill and career growth.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex ideas concisely, leading organization-wide technical discussions, and collaborating with security, DevOps, data, compliance, and product teams.
• Data-informed decision-making skills, including measuring non-obvious but essential factors and making timely decisions when data is incomplete.
