2027 Software Dev Engineer Intern (Machine Learning) - UK (AI)

Location: United Kingdom; London or Cambridge. Full-time in-office internship, Monday-Friday, typically up to 40 hours per week between 8am and 5pm.

What you will do

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineers to design, build, operate, and improve products and services.
• Break down complex and ambiguous problems into well-defined components and contribute to scalable, reliable services.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, documentation, and agile development using CI/CD practices.
• Use GenAI and AI-powered tools to improve development productivity while validating and integrating generated code.
• Participate in operational responsibilities, including on-call duties, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field at the time of application.
• At least one quarter, semester, or trimester remaining in studies after the internship concludes.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Ability to work full-time without conflicts from classes or other employment during hirify.global work hours.

Nice to have

• Previous technical internship experience.
• Experience with distributed and multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, database systems including SQL and NoSQL, AI development tools, open-source projects, or version control systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in academic or professional settings.
• Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
• Ability to handle ambiguous or undefined problems and think abstractly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
