Lead Data Scientist (AI)

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for complex, business-critical projects while balancing speed, innovation and reliability.
• Design and implement reliable, production-grade technical solutions and document architectures and specifications.
• Define project problems, develop roadmaps and oversee end-to-end delivery across multidisciplinary workstreams.
• Lead technical scoping and feasibility studies for high-value sales opportunities and strategic customer engagements.
• Manage demanding client relationships and align technical solutions with long-term commercial goals.
• Drive data science best practices, mentor team members and contribute to technical standards and organisational development.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in at least one machine learning domain and strong technical breadth across the data science landscape.
• Technical leadership experience, including mentoring individuals, managing teams and managing other managers.
• Experience rolling out impactful tools and workflows.
• Proven project management expertise, including dividing complex, ill-defined problems into actionable workstreams with defensible timelines.
• Ability to manage ill-defined, high-risk tasks and deliver innovative, practical outcomes under commercial pressure.
• Strong customer leadership skills, with the ability to act as a trusted technical advisor and build long-term strategic relationships with demanding clients.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to align technical strategy with Engineering, Commercial/Business Development and Infrastructure teams.
• Experience extending technical oversight to business-unit initiatives and influencing organisational success through technical vision.

Hiring process

• Talent Team screen: 30 minutes.
• Introduction to the team: 45 minutes.
• Technical interview: 90 minutes, followed by a 60-minute commercial interview.
