HPC Customer Workload Optimization Engineer (m/f/d)

Location: Munich, Germany; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned Intel site and off-site work

What you will do

• Lead technical strategy and architectural design for software solutions serving customers, ecosystem partners, and open-source projects.
• Design end-to-end solutions combining software and hardware innovation for customer and ecosystem challenges.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, ecosystem readiness, performance opportunities, and adoption paths.
• Make architectural decisions covering frameworks, system architecture, protocols, algorithms, and scalability strategies.
• Establish development, validation, and performance optimization practices; conduct technical pathfinding and technology assessments.
• Collaborate with Intel technologists, engineering teams, customers, industry stakeholders, and open-source communities to influence roadmaps and deliver Intel Architecture-based solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of experience; or a master's degree with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD in a relevant field.
• Experience in software development, software architecture, performance engineering, or system optimization.
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles, frameworks, protocols, and algorithms.
• Proficiency in one or more of C++, Python, or Java.
• Experience designing and delivering scalable software solutions.
• Knowledge of software validation, performance analysis, and optimization techniques.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and customer environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with data center, cloud, AI, or high-performance computing workloads.
• Familiarity with Linux-based software development and performance profiling tools.
• Experience with open-source communities and ecosystem partners.
• Strong technical communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence technical direction across organizations.
• Experience solving complex system-level challenges and driving innovation.
