Staff Engineer I, Software Engineering (Python/React)

Bain & Company’s Coro organization develops and operates proprietary digital solutions for Bain’s clients and case teams, including Artemis, an AI-driven marketing and commercial investment allocation platform.

What you will do

• Own complete Artemis features from specification through tested and deployed backend API and React frontend code.
• Build marketing analytics interfaces including channel allocation dashboards, scenario comparison views, model configuration workflows, and executive-ready recommendation outputs.
• Maintain backend routes, API contracts, frontend type contracts, database queries, schema migrations, and data access logic.
• Maintain test coverage, troubleshoot system defects, direct deployments, and support operations.
• Translate feedback from expert consultants and go-to-market specialists into product improvements.
• Participate in technical discovery, proofs of concept, innovation workstreams, recruiting, mentoring, and knowledge sharing on emerging data, AI, and agentic technologies.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience building full-stack web applications, including experience delivering in an Agile environment.
• Proficiency in Python with FastAPI or an equivalent asynchronous framework for backend API development.
• Proficiency in React and TypeScript in a production single-page application, including state management, data fetching, and type safety.
• Strong CSS skills and experience with component libraries and design systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with relational databases, including schema design, SQL, migrations, and query debugging.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, issue resolution, communication, and presentation skills, including documenting complex designs and processes.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Analytical, creative, proactive, results-driven, and entrepreneurial mindset with strong interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with data visualization libraries such as Recharts, D3, or equivalent for chart-heavy analytics interfaces.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
• Experience with marketing, media, or advertising data, including marketing mix modelling inputs such as spend, channel, and campaign data.
• Experience building scenario-planning or what-if interfaces with real-time modelled output updates.
