Company

hirify.global refurbishes electronics, including iPhones, iPads, AirPods, and MacBooks, through its factories in Tallinn and Leipzig.

What you will do

  • Research and scope factory-floor problems by observing operators and collaborating with product, engineering, automation, vendor, and operations teams.
  • Build support for new device categories, including activation, diagnostics, grading, sorting, and packing workflows.
  • Maintain automation lines through alerts and operational health dashboards.
  • Integrate robots, third-party diagnostics and erasure tools, and other external systems.
  • Support station hardware such as label printers, barcode and serial scanners, station PCs, and robot configurations.
  • Work directly with product managers and factory operations in a small, autonomous, integrated team.

Requirements

  • Solid backend engineering experience, ideally with Python and Django, and experience owning production systems.
  • Strong PostgreSQL skills, including diagnosing slow queries on large tables.
  • Experience integrating external systems or devices and handling integration failures.
  • Curiosity about hardware and willingness to investigate printer, scanner, and machine behavior.
  • Ability to research before building, validate existing solutions, ask questions, and challenge requirements based on factory-floor findings.
  • Fluent use of AI coding tools with verification of their output.
  • Clear communication with non-technical colleagues.
  • Fluent English.

Nice to have

  • TypeScript, React or Svelte; Kubernetes, Google Cloud, or Datadog.
  • Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse automation.
  • Experience with PLCs, USB or serial devices, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience running machine learning or image pipelines in production.

Culture & Benefits

  • Small, autonomous, integrated team working directly with product and factory operations.
  • Weekly planning, rotating technical-support duties, and Friday demos.
  • Regular hands-on work on the factory floor is essential.
  • Modern stack including Python, Django, PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud.
  • Transparent career progression, yearly development discussions, and structured growth for individual contributors and leaders.
  • Full-time, permanent employment with an employee stock option program.
