Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Bulgaria; flexible hybrid and remote options, with occasional travel to client sites or hirify.global offices when needed.

What you will do

• Develop RESTful Java APIs with database integrations using readable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Integrate third-party APIs, including payment gateways.
• Collaborate with engineers, BAs, QAs, Product, Design, and client teams to deliver effective solutions.
• Identify software delivery bottlenecks and remove roadblocks.
• Handle difficult client communications for specific issues.
• Define and oversee technical implementation while identifying knowledge gaps and mentoring opportunities.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of API development using Java, including ORM storage.
• Active facilitation and encouragement of knowledge sharing within the team and wider department.
• Advocacy for engineering practices including code reviews, paired programming, and automated tests.
• Experience using agentic AI to develop and deploy solutions.
• Experience utilising cloud-based, AI-enabled workflows to increase productivity.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud services and CI/CD.
