Tutor Operations Leader

Location: Remote; applicants may be located anywhere, provided they can maintain significant working-hours overlap with one of the Americas time zones.

Salary: $230,000–$300,000 USD for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $200,000–$255,000 USD for all other US states.

What you will do

• Lead Tutor Operations across tutor acquisition and retention, session reliability and quality, customer support, tutor community, and manual operations.
• Set ambitious goals, coach team members, provide direct feedback, and support individual growth.
• Shape Tutor’s growth strategy with Product, contribute frontline insight to roadmap decisions, and staff launches with operational support.
• Manage the supply side of the marketplace, ensuring the right mix of tutors across subjects, grades, time slots, languages, and locales.
• Improve family and tutor support through faster, more accurate, increasingly automated operations.
• Prioritize work around measurable business outcomes and protect team capacity.

Requirements

• Strong people-management and leadership experience, including motivating, holding accountable, and developing individuals.
• Experience leading operations at a technology company, ideally in a marketplace business.
• Ability to set measurable goals, analyze data directly, and make clear prioritization decisions.
• Ownership of outcomes rather than processes, with the ability to hold the team to the same standard.
• Ability to challenge and sharpen senior leaders’ thinking.
• Hands-on execution and effective use of AI to increase productivity.

Nice to have

• Teaching, tutoring, or edtech experience.
• Experience scaling support or operations through automation and AI rather than headcount.
• Experience running operations for international or new-market expansion.
