TL;DR
Senior Program Manager I - Space Sensing & Domain Awareness (TS/SCI) (EO/IR sensing and optical payloads): Leading advanced sensing payloads from blank-sheet prototypes through qualification, scalable production, and flight with an accent on technical roadmaps, architecture, and mission-critical program execution. Focus on navigating pointing stability, jitter, sensitivity, supply-chain risk, cross-functional delivery, and U.S. Government tracking, warning, and surveillance programs.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters. For candidates seeking to work in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. Government ITAR regulations is required.

Base Pay Range: $125,300–$187,850 USD annually.

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, critical subsystems, and space systems for commercial, scientific, national security, and defense missions.

What you will do

  • Lead EO/IR sensing payload and optical-system programs from blank-sheet concepts through qualification, scalable production, and flight.
  • Own the technical roadmap, strategic make-or-buy decisions, and architectural trade-offs across pointing stability, jitter, sensitivity, and revisit.
  • Run multiple programs, resolve program-threatening technical and execution issues, and coordinate optics, electronics, software, and data-chain teams.
  • Build and develop program and technical teams while establishing a culture of informed risk-taking, accountability, and continuous delivery.
  • Manage strategic suppliers and high-stakes subcontracts to protect schedule, margin, and mission outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned U.S. Government tracking, warning, and surveillance customers and support business-development proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, mathematics, science, or another technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of aerospace program management experience.
  • Proven ownership of a technical program, product, or team end to end, including delivery under significant pressure.
  • Experience moving hardware and software from prototype toward scalable, flight-ready production.
  • Understanding of EO/IR sensing, optical payloads, or focal plane arrays.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating technical, schedule, and supply-chain risks before they affect the mission.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience transitioning low-volume prototypes into scalable production while maintaining mission reliability.
  • Deep experience in National Security Space or large sensing and tracking constellations.
  • Success negotiating, capturing, and executing large U.S. Government contracts.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, optics, or a related field.
  • Fluency in systems engineering, trade studies, interface control, requirement integrity, Jira, Confluence, and ERP.
  • Multiple program cycles or 8+ years of aerospace or defense experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced, high-ownership environment focused on hard technical problems, teamwork, tight deadlines, and delivering under pressure.
  • Company stock included in total compensation and an Employee Stock Purchase Program with a 15% discount.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage; HSA contribution; paid vacation and sick time; 11 paid holidays; parental leave; disability and life insurance; and 401(k) matching.
  • Additional benefits include subsidized EV charging, onsite fitness centers where available, gym memberships, snacks and beverages, and employee discounts.
  • The position may involve prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, plus occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Hiring process

  • U.S. office candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain applicable ITAR authorizations.
  • Applicants requiring reasonable accommodation for the U.S. application or interview process should contact the designated accommodation resource.
