HMS Simulation Framework Lead (C++/Python)

Location: Washington, D.C., United States; on-site.

Salary: $173,000–$259,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of C++ and Python simulation framework engineers, including technical direction and performance reviews.
• Drive HMS program requirements into the Hivemind Simulation Framework product roadmap in partnership with Hivemind Platform engineering and product leadership.
• Design and execute a phased migration from HMSSimBlocks to HMSF while maintaining operational support for active legacy programs.
• Oversee simulation adapters, plugins, and interfaces for NGTS, AFSIM, Aechelon, HMSSimBlocks, and HMSF.
• Align frameworks with GRID/JSE, CIGI, CSF, DDS, DIS, and HLA standards and support interoperability across threat and visual simulators.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing through collaboration with program, integration, and autonomy teams; provide templates, documentation, and framework support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline and 7+ years of related experience; alternatively, 5+ years with a Master’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in technical leadership, team leadership, or engineering management.
• Deep software engineering experience with C++ and Python in Linux environments.
• Practical experience with modeling and simulation frameworks such as AFSIM, NGTS, SimBlocks/HMSF, or similar, plus distributed simulation middleware such as DDS, DIS, or HLA.
• Experience partnering with platform or product teams to influence external product roadmaps and drive program requirements upstream.
• Experience managing software platform migrations while maintaining operational stability for legacy systems.
• Familiarity with GRID/JSE, CIGI, CSF, UDP, and TCP.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. SECRET security clearance.
