Machine Learning Engineer (TS/SCI)

Location: Herndon, VA; onsite. U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance are required.

Base pay within the Washington, DC metropolitan area: $116,000–$154,000–$169,400 annually.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning solutions using multi-INT data.
• Develop MLOps pipelines for continuous integration and deployment of computer vision models.
• Collaborate with engineers, clients, and users across multidisciplinary AI/ML teams.
• Develop analytics and derivative data products that help users extract meaningful knowledge.
• Apply version control, model reproducibility, and governance best practices.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and a current TS/SCI clearance are required; willingness to obtain a CI Polygraph is required.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one general-purpose language, including Python, TypeScript, Java, C, or C++.
• B.S. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Proficiency with the Python data science and AI/ML stack, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy, pandas, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn, plus geospatial libraries such as GDAL, GeoPandas, and Shapely, or equivalent.
• Experience extracting, manipulating, visualizing, and analyzing large datasets.
• Strong understanding of machine learning principles and model lifecycle management.
• Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to use emerging technologies to address mission challenges.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying AI/ML or computer vision models across diverse data types.
• Experience designing and deploying AI-native software products that transform large-scale geospatial data into actionable intelligence.
• Software development experience covering design, development, and implementation.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud or hybrid environments, modern software development tools, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in Linux-based environments and a multiparadigm language such as Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and troubleshoot proactively.
