Mechanical Architect (Hardware Systems)

Salary: $105,050–$159,000 USD annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities for candidates in the United States of America.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional teams through mechanical development from concept design and validation through tooling and testing.
• Provide technical leadership on mechanical architecture, component design, structural design, hardware integration, and system integration.
• Review designs and project deliverables against engineering standards and provide actionable quality feedback.
• Define strategies for key mechanical components including touch interfaces, keyboards, and connectors.
• Evaluate vendors and manufacturing processes and contribute to supplier development.
• Drive technology innovation, long-term product strategy, R&D initiatives, and mentoring for junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in notebook, tablet, mobility, AR/VR, consumer electronics, or similar product development.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Creo or equivalent.
• Experience with FEA structural simulations and finite element methods.
• Experience in mechanical architecture and structural design for electronic system structures, including material science, hardware integration, and associated design constraints.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of mechanical architecture in electronic systems.
• Familiarity with design for manufacturability and manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal.
• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex design concepts and influence senior leadership.
