Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer (Automotive)

Location

Hybrid role based in Milford or Warren, Michigan, United States; expected to report to the assigned location at least 3 times per week. Relocation benefits are not provided, and relocation costs are the candidate’s responsibility.

What you will do

• Optimize suspension and steering kinematics, compliance, ride, handling, and steering performance through multibody dynamics modeling and simulation.
• Virtually integrate chassis tuning components, active control systems, structures, and key load interfaces.
• Develop and maintain cross-functional vehicle dynamics master models and co-simulation packages.
• Integrate 1D data and control systems into simulation workflows and improve chassis subsystem and full-vehicle model fidelity.
• Create new load cases and collaborate with test teams to advance virtual development and reduce reliance on hardware-based methods.
• Mentor team members, collaborate across functions and cultures, influence without direct authority, and resolve conflicts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive, aircraft, construction, or related industries.
• Experience applying computational methods to engineering problems.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as MATLAB or Python for simulation automation and analysis.
• Ability to work in teams while balancing technical theory with practical limitations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, creative and independent thinking, and sound decision-making.
• Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, software, computer engineering, or a closely related field.
• Familiarity with multibody and controls integration CAE tools including Simpack, ADAMS, MotionView, CarSim, CarMaker, MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE VEOS, and GitHub.
• Advanced project or thesis work in vehicle dynamics or multibody dynamics modeling.
• Practical automotive experience in building, restoring, or modifying vehicles, or participation in performance driving schools.
• Participation in automotive teams such as Mini-Baja, Formula SAE, PACE, or Eco-Car.
