Digital Content and Social Media Manager (Defense)

Location: Onsite in Washington, D.C.; candidates must be based in the Washington, D.C. area.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 base compensation per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define defense and aerospace positioning and translate it into website strategy, messaging, architecture, and new content.
• Improve content visibility through SEO, AEO, and GEO, while analyzing website performance and recommending improvements to user journeys and engagement.
• Own the social media strategy and calendar across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram, and other relevant platforms.
• Create platform-native content from press coverage, executive commentary, product launches, events, and company milestones.
• Manage publishing, community engagement, monitoring, event coverage, performance reporting, and reputational-risk escalation.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Design, Communications, and contributors to maintain editorial standards and clear content through government-sensitivity and export-control review.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or English.
• 3–6 years of digital content and/or social media management experience, ideally with B2B, government-facing, defense, or other regulated-industry brands.
• Demonstrated success growing and engaging audiences specifically on LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.
• Excellent writing skills and judgment for technical, executive, government, and non-consumer audiences.
• Experience handling sensitive information and following a review process before publishing.
• Experience turning press coverage, executive commentary, and event content into organic social content.
• Basic proficiency with social scheduling and analytics tools.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and independently build and run the social function during the early months.
• Must be based in the Washington, D.C. area.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, aerospace, government contracting, or other regulated industries.
• Basic graphic design or short-form video editing skills.
• Experience supporting executive thought leadership or personal branding on social media.
• Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
