Principal Communications Manager (Fintech)

Location: Mountain View, Oakland, or San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid with a minimum of three days per week in office.

Base pay: $199,000–$269,000 annually, depending on work location; may also include cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set and own the external communications strategy for the mid-market segment, combining PR and Analyst Relations.
• Lead Analyst Relations strategy, including analyst calendars, briefings, inquiries, narratives, and named-vendor evaluations and reports.
• Build communications programs for accounting and advisory communities alongside traditional press and analyst audiences.
• Coordinate Product Marketing, Corporate Communications, Brand, Platform PR, Investor Relations, and Legal around one category-leadership narrative.
• Direct external PR and Analyst Relations agencies and use executive visibility, including interviews, bylines, LinkedIn thought leadership, and analyst briefings, to strengthen market position.
• Define metrics for analyst sentiment, placement, share of voice, accounting-channel visibility, and message pull-through, and maintain source-of-truth messaging documentation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in external communications, PR, and/or Analyst Relations within B2B SaaS, fintech, or enterprise software.
• Ability to connect communications strategy to market-position outcomes such as category leadership, win rates, or competitive standing.
• Experience building programs for trusted-advisor or channel audiences such as accounting firms, VARs, or consultants, in addition to press and analyst audiences.
• Experience leading cross-functionally across marketing, communications, investor relations, and corporate communications, including setting direction for people and functions without formal management authority.
• Fluency in how Gartner, IDC, Forrester, and Constellation evaluate and cover vendors, with demonstrated success influencing named-vendor placement and sentiment.
• Experience counseling and equipping EVP/SVP-level executives as part of a broader communications strategy.
• Experience directing external PR and/or Analyst Relations agencies and holding them accountable to a shared strategy and quality standard.
• Strong independent judgment and ability to build and run a strategic program with minimal oversight.
