Senior Software Developer - Android

Location: 100% remote, work environment at home; candidates must already be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Salary: $128,000–$144,000 plus a 5% bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain Android applications, libraries, frameworks, and core systems.
• Improve the scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of the hirify.global Android application.
• Resolve ANRs and memory leaks in a complex multithreaded environment using Kotlin Coroutines and RxJava.
• Maintain and optimize a Gradle multi-module architecture with 9+ specialized libraries, including VoIP, EKG, Core, and UI modules.
• Implement and debug low-level interactions between Android software and specialized device hardware, including reboot handling and hardware listeners.
• Collaborate in a Scrum team across planning, estimation, development, testing, demos, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional Android software development experience, including extensive Kotlin and Java application development.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent education and relevant experience combinations may be considered.
• Extensive experience with Android frameworks and UI development, including XML layouts, Activities, Fragments, Material Design, ConstraintLayout, ViewModel, LiveData, and Flow.
• Advanced Kotlin Coroutines and RxJava 2 experience, including complex state transitions and synchronization between UI and background services.
• Extensive experience with VoIP/SIP protocols, Linphone or similar libraries, Android telephony APIs, and real-time audio pipelines.
• Strong understanding of Clean Architecture and MVVM; familiarity with MVP, multi-module structures, Gradle configuration, and Dagger 2 dependency injection.
• Experience with Retrofit, OkHttp, REST APIs, Room Database, SQLite, JSON/XML, Android testing frameworks, JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.
• Experience with Android Studio, Git, GitHub Actions, Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics, CI/CD, application monitoring, open-source technologies, and production debugging.
• Ability to guide teammates, communicate and present effectively, solve problems, manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, work flexible hours as needed, and use Microsoft Office Suite and modern virtual-team communication tools.

Nice to have

• Jetpack Compose experience.
• Board Support Package and/or Android Open Source Project development experience.
• AI-assisted development and troubleshooting tools such as Claude or Codex.
• Test-Driven Development practices.
• Apple iOS experience.
