Senior Android Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: United Kingdom; remote or hybrid if London based, with a central London office available for hybrid work.

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain production Android applications and SDKs from scratch.
• Own CI/CD setup, automated testing, and Google Play release delivery.
• Translate product requirements into high-performance, scalable mobile features and responsive user interfaces.
• Collaborate with designers, QA, Team Leads, and the Android Architect on delivery, standards, architecture, and technology choices.
• Drive code quality through reviews, Git workflows, static analysis, and automated unit and UI testing.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead technical discussions, and contribute to Agile ceremonies and release quality.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Kotlin as the primary language and the ability to read Java for legacy code.
• Strong understanding of the Android SDK, lifecycle, and platform constraints.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, and RxJava/RxKotlin maintenance or migration.
• Experience with multi-module Gradle projects, including feature, core, and library separation and build optimization.
• Solid understanding of Clean Architecture and MVVM.
• Experience with dependency injection using Dagger or Hilt and navigation using Jetpack Navigation Component or custom coordinator patterns.
• Experience with unit testing using JUnit and MockK or Mockito, Flow testing with Turbine, and UI testing with Espresso and/or Compose Testing.
• Experience with Detekt, Lint, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Concourse.

Nice to have

• Experience setting up KMP projects with shared, commonMain, androidMain, and iosMain modules.
• Familiarity with Compose Multiplatform, Ktor, SQLDelight, or other KMP-compatible libraries.
• Awareness of KMP limitations and platform-specific implementations.
