Senior Data Solution Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Remote within the United States; McLean, Virginia is listed as the location. Occasional travel may be required, expected to be less than 10%. Only U.S. citizens are eligible. DHS Suitability and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination are required.

Salary: $115,000–$145,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design and implement data management and governance solutions in Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Classify, document, secure, and manage datasets throughout their lifecycle.
• Evaluate data architecture decisions for scalability, maintainability, performance, and technical debt.
• Define governance, metadata, sensitivity, and access requirements across Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion layers.
• Implement column-level masking, row-level security, and dynamic access controls.
• Develop and optimize SQL and Spark pipelines and collaborate with data owners, security stakeholders, technical teams, and business partners.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree and 6 years of direct production experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience designing data governance, tagging, and metadata standards.
• Deep understanding of medallion architecture and the evolution of metadata, sensitivity, and access requirements across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Experience implementing column masking, row-level security, and dynamic access controls.
• Ability to reconcile competing stakeholder requirements and translate them into practical data solutions.
• Strong SQL and Spark skills.
• Proficiency in defining pipeline configuration and data contracts declaratively, such as with YAML, as version-controlled and enforceable artifacts.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• DHS Suitability and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination are required.
