Senior Claims Specialist (Reinsurance)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland; hybrid schedule with the option to work remotely two days per week.

What you will do

• Manage an assigned portfolio of Continental European reinsurance claims, including coverage analysis, exposure assessment, reserving, settlement, and escalation of complex or out-of-authority claims.
• Build working relationships with clients and brokers to exchange information and resolve claims efficiently.
• Maintain accurate claims records and prepare portfolio updates, management reporting, and Solvency II returns.
• Support the Zurich Underwriting team with claim reviews and client visits, including travel when necessary.
• Share technical and market knowledge, improve claims-handling practices, contribute to ad hoc projects, and provide updates on claims trends.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the global reinsurance claims team without direct people-management responsibilities.

Requirements

• Professional experience in reinsurance or insurance claims as a claims handler, broker, lawyer, or in a related role.
• Experience across business classes such as property catastrophe, casualty, marine, energy, and financial products.
• Good understanding of general reinsurance principles, wordings, policy interpretation, and coverage.
• Knowledge of legal frameworks for European, UK, or other jurisdictions.
• French (re)insurance market expertise.
• Familiarity with ECF2, Class, Writeback, P2P, or SICS systems and experience conducting claim reviews or audits.
• Strong technical claims knowledge, effective communication, collaboration, and the ability to work independently.
• Fluent English and strong French language skills are required.
