Automation & Controls Engineer

Location: Onsite five days a week in East Peoria, Illinois, United States (Building KK); primarily based on the manufacturing floor with less than 10% travel possible. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $81,370–$122,060 per year.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and support industrial automation and control systems on the manufacturing floor.
• Improve equipment reliability, performance, uptime, safety, quality, and production results.
• Support, develop, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, industrial networks, vision systems, drives, motion control, process control, and instrumentation.
• Lead root-cause investigations and implement permanent solutions.
• Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams while developing expertise in manufacturing systems.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Automation Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, or equivalent experience is desired.
• Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to complete tasks with high precision.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to accurately exchange and interpret technical information and needs.
• Knowledge of engineering processes, techniques, and methods in a manufacturing environment, including the ability to design and implement systems and processes safely.
• Problem-solving skills and knowledge of approaches and tools for resolving operational and process problems.
• Technical troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, applications, and operations.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and support a rotating AWS night-shift schedule with assigned weekends and holidays.

Nice to have

• Technical education, training, or experience in engineering, automation, controls, electrical systems, robotics, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
• Strong technical aptitude, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies and troubleshoot complex equipment.
• Strong technical depth in one or more industrial automation platforms; experience with every listed system is not required.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with varied teams.

• Alternate Work Schedule night shift: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM, repeating over a two-week cycle: Week 1 Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday; Week 2 Wednesday, Thursday.
