Software Development Engineer, Business Process Optimization

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; Flex Work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners, depending on the role.

Annual base salary: $148,000–$222,000 for the primary Pleasanton location; $123,900–$222,000 for additional US locations. The role may also be eligible for a bonus or commission and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy production microservices and streaming pipelines for analytics and agentic engines.
• Build scalable REST and gRPC APIs integrating MCP tools, LLM workflows, and observability frameworks.
• Optimize high-throughput ingestion, indexing, and query execution across ClickHouse and distributed event streams.
• Create unit, integration, and distributed load tests across CI/CD automation pipelines.
• Monitor, triage, and resolve production issues to maintain high availability and low latency across global customer tenants.
• Write API specifications, component designs, and operational runbooks, collaborating with Product, Data Engineering, SRE, and Legal/Compliance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development engineering experience, including designing, developing, and deploying production software solutions and distributed systems.
• 3+ years of experience with Python, Java, Go, or Scala.
• Knowledge of data partitioning, event-driven streaming, columnar query optimization, high-throughput processing, and microservice state management.
• Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, gRPC, OTLP, scalable microservices, telemetry integration, object-oriented design, encapsulation, abstraction, and clean API design.
• Understanding of unit and integration testing, telemetry-based performance monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and standard branching and merge strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS infrastructure, and Apache Kafka or Spark pipelines.
• Experience collaborating in agile sprints, conducting peer code reviews, solving problems cross-functionally, and writing design specifications, API contracts, integration guidelines, and runbooks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
