Associate Database Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Zielona Gora, Poland, with 2 days per week in the office.

Salary: Up to 11,000 PLN gross per month.

What you will do

• Support the maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of relational database systems hosted in AWS, especially Amazon RDS.
• Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, queries, and stored procedures using established standards.
• Monitor database health and performance, investigate slow queries, locks, resource contention, and other database issues, escalating complex problems when needed.
• Support database security, user access management, replication, high availability, failover, backups, restore testing, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with software developers on schema design, application requirements, inefficient queries, and data access patterns.
• Participate in code reviews, incident investigations, documentation, maintenance activities, and improvements to operational procedures and runbooks.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of SQL, with familiarity with PL/pgSQL or T-SQL and willingness to develop database programming skills.
• Basic understanding of relational database design, normalization, indexing, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with database security concepts, including authentication, access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Basic understanding of PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Basic knowledge of AWS cloud services; familiarity with Amazon RDS is an advantage.
• Understanding of database backup, recovery, high availability, and failover concepts.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate technical issues and seek guidance.
• Willingness to learn new technologies, follow best practices, and develop database administration and optimization skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, plus communicative-level English.
