Product and Partner Counsel (AI/SaaS)

Location: Remote, Canada

Salary: CA$164K–CA$225.5K plus a 15% annual target bonus.

What you will do

• Advise product management, development, engineering, support, and marketing teams on commercial terms, privacy, data protection, global regulatory compliance, privacy-by-design, and responsible AI.
• Influence product design and deployment by addressing legal, ethical, and regulatory issues in emerging technologies.
• Analyze legal requirements and monitor evolving cybersecurity and AI regulations, translating them into practical business guidance.
• Draft and negotiate resale, referral, distribution, technology partner, cloud marketplace, and services agreements.
• Advise on anti-bribery and anti-corruption, third-party risk, antitrust and competition, sanctions, and export controls.
• Support commercial strategy for new products, partner programs, routes to market, and public-sector and government channels.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar.
• 4–7 years of experience at a national law firm or in-house legal department, focused on channel and advisory partners and/or product counseling and technology transactions.
• In-house experience at a SaaS or technology company is required.
• Experience advising on AI applications, cloud services, data privacy, and cybersecurity standards.
• Ability to translate complex technical and legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for business partners.
• Ability to build strong relationships and trust with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers.
• Strong judgment, organizational skills, prioritization, independence, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as a creative problem solver in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and actively seek and apply feedback.

Nice to have

• Technical background or prior internal audit experience.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud architectures including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance frameworks.
