Focus on controllability studies, Monte Carlo and sensitivity analysis, model validation, requirements traceability, and integration with multidisciplinary aerospace programs.

Location: Folsom, CA; travel up to 10% for technical reviews, tests, or customer engagements.

Salary: $125,700–$173,700 USD annually.

Company

hirify.global develops defense, national security, and space technologies for mission-critical applications from ground to space.

What you will do

  • Develop high-fidelity models and control algorithms for propulsion, flight-control, guidance, actuation, and dynamic-mechanism subsystems.
  • Create simulation architectures and physics-based mechanical, thermal, aerodynamic, ballistics, and propulsion models for design iteration, verification, validation, and concept evaluation.
  • Perform controllability, Monte Carlo, sensitivity, parametric, margin, and performance trade studies; develop estimation techniques and modern state-space control methods.
  • Support requirements derivation, CONOPS development, technical risk identification, program performance engineering, and system-level design maturation with DoD customers.
  • Collaborate with GNC, software, systems, and test teams; participate in customer engagements, technical reviews, and SRR, PDR, and CDR milestones.
  • Author model reports, simulation plans, interface definitions, and configuration records; mentor junior engineers and support peer reviews.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must hold a bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have 7–10 years of experience in modeling, simulation, control systems, or estimation algorithm development in aerospace or defense industries.
  • Strong experience in dynamic-system modeling, control-system design, simulation infrastructure, classical and modern control techniques, state-space control, and model verification and validation.
  • Experience in propulsion modeling, including solid rocket motors and controllable-solids performance, plus basic ballistics performance assessment.
  • Working knowledge of physics-based modeling for mechanical, thermal, and aerodynamic subsystems and multi-domain simulation development.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent modeling and control toolchains; ability to generate SysML diagrams covering product structure, behavior, technical logic, engineering processes, and test execution.
  • Ability to lead engineering tasks across lifecycle phases from requirements through verification and delivery, interface with DoD customers, support complex technical decisions, and work across functional boundaries.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, technical risk identification, collaboration, time management, technical rigor, and continuous-improvement skills.
  • Ability to work in secure or classified environments and adapt to a fast-paced, high-accountability, multi-program setting.
  • Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in systems engineering or a related discipline; may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Prior experience with Department of Defense, MDA, or equivalent government programs.

Culture & Benefits

  • Mission-driven work advancing aerospace modeling, controls, national defense, and space technology.
  • Comprehensive total compensation package with discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
  • Paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, retirement savings, and wellness program.
  • Work includes technical reviews, tests, customer engagements, and secure or classified environments.
