MBSE Engineer for Space System Application

Location: Onsite required in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States.

Salary: $75,000–$156,000 base salary per year.

What you will do

• Develop system concepts, system test concepts, requirements, and architectures for a new space-based application.
• Apply MBSE and digital engineering approaches across the systems development lifecycle, from requirements capture through deployment.
• Analyze mission needs, use cases, architecture and design trade spaces, and integrated hardware/software systems.
• Develop or integrate multidisciplinary models and perform simulation-based performance analysis for complex systems and systems of systems.
• Support requirements verification, system verification planning and execution, interface development, and compliance reporting.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations and communicate engineering results, challenges, and design decisions to project leadership, customers, engineers, managers, and government sponsors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related role.
• Practical experience with the systems engineering process and simulation-based performance analysis.
• Experience with SysML and modeling tools such as MagicDraw.
• Experience with one or more of DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python.
• Ability to work from a system-level perspective, approach problems in an organized manner, and communicate technical concepts effectively.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and independently execute assignments with some oversight.
• Ability to support onsite work consistently.
• Applicants selected for the position must obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.
• Roles may require proficiency with modeling and simulation, coding, descriptive modeling, STPA, and other engineering analysis tools, as defined by the project.
• Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cybersecurity, communications and encryption, threat modeling, or other relevant technologies may be required based on the assignment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher.
• Familiarity with space missions operating in LEO, MEO, and GEO.
• Familiarity with GNC concepts and space sensors.
• Familiarity with interface standards and coordination documentation, including OSI Framework, DoDAF, SysML, deterministic communication interface documentation, and interface signal or message databases.
• Knowledge or interest in systems engineering, modeling and simulation, trade-space exploration, machine learning, and data engineering.
• Experience integrating descriptive modeling tools with other simulation tools.
