Database Engineer (Oracle/PostgreSQL)

What you will do

• Support production, staging, load-test, development, and test database environments.
• Design, build, scale, monitor, and upgrade database solutions focused on growth, security, resilience, and stability.
• Plan database deployments and scheduled releases with development and testing teams, including zero-downtime delivery.
• Analyze and tune performance through load testing, SQL tuning, indexing, partitioning, and operating-system optimization.
• Support Oracle-to-PostgreSQL data migrations and develop complex queries, data extracts, and bespoke reports.
• Identify automation and process improvements and perform DBA tasks as needed.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience as a Database Engineer or in a similar database-focused role; candidates with less experience may also be considered.
• Hands-on production database experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
• Strong SQL skills, including PL/SQL and shell scripting.
• Experience with reporting, complex queries, data extracts, performance troubleshooting, and database monitoring tools.
• Understanding of zero-downtime database deployments.
• Strong logical and analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication, collaboration, initiative, and ownership through task completion.
• Confident English for day-to-day work.

Nice to have

• Experience with additional database technologies.
• Familiarity with RMAN and Data Guard backup and recovery technologies.
• Experience with physical or logical data migrations.
