TL;DR
SQL Server DBA (AWS/High-Load Systems): Optimizing high-load transactional systems built on Microsoft SQL Server with an accent on performance tuning, T-SQL optimization, and database reliability. Focus on designing indexing and high-availability solutions, supporting AWS-based SQL Server environments, and building SSIS, ETL/ELT, and API integrations.

Location: Remote from Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Portugal, or Montenegro

What you will do

  • Optimize the performance of high-load transactional systems built on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Analyze execution plans, statistics, locking, and blocking to identify performance root causes.
  • Design and implement indexes, monitor their impact, and improve system stability and reliability.
  • Write, review, and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Administer SQL Server environments on AWS using RDS and/or EC2, including high availability and disaster recovery solutions with Always On and Multi-AZ.
  • Build and support data integrations using SSIS, ETL/ELT processes, and APIs; communicate technical findings and optimization proposals in English.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA.
  • Proven performance-tuning experience on high-load transactional systems.
  • Deep knowledge of indexing, execution plans, statistics, locking, and isolation levels.
  • Strong T-SQL skills.
  • Experience with SQL Server on AWS, using RDS and/or EC2.
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery using Always On and Multi-AZ.
  • Experience with integrations involving SSIS, ETL/ELT, and APIs.
  • Upper-Intermediate (B2) English or higher.
