Project Engineer - Automation

Location: Pullman, Washington, United States; work is based at the SEL corporate office and requires domestic and international travel of at least 25%.

Salary: $84,000–$124,000 per year for the Associate Project Engineer level; the range and title may differ for candidates hired at another level.

What you will do

• Train and assist customers with the creation, design configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
• Work with the project team to assign, complete, and implement work within the agreed scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining quality and safety.
• Assist with identifying, preparing, and presenting proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Support automation projects involving software integration, industrial controls, PLCs, industry protocols, Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and SCADA practices.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of electric power-system protection and control, integration and/or automation, and communications applications.
• Proven knowledge of electric power-system design, studies, information and communication technology, and protective relay applications.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% based on the focus area.

Nice to have

• Experience in an electrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering, or system integrator environment.
• Project management experience.
• Working knowledge of Vision or another project-management tracking system.
