TL;DR
Scientist, Analytical Development (mRNA): Developing, optimizing, and implementing analytical methods for mRNA vaccines, therapeutics, and other advanced modalities with an accent on electrophoretic, microfluidic, automated biomolecule-analysis, and immuno-based technologies. Focus on designing robust, phase-appropriate methods, solving complex product-quality challenges, and transitioning platform methods into clinical, commercial, and Quality Control networks.
Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. This role is 100% onsite. Only U.S. persons—citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees—are eligible because of U.S. export control requirements.
Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, plus potential discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.
Company
hirify.global develops an mRNA technology platform, vaccines, therapeutics, and other medicines.
What you will do
Design, develop, optimize, and execute analytical methods for drug substance, drug product, and process intermediates across early development, clinical, and commercial programs.
Develop electrophoretic, microfluidic, automated separation, biomolecule-analysis, and immuno-based methods, including capillary electrophoresis, CE-SDS, cIEF/icIEF, microchip electrophoresis, automated gel methods, and capillary-based immunoassays.
Translate product knowledge, critical quality attributes, process-development questions, and control-strategy needs into phase-appropriate analytical requirements and intended use.
Apply risk-based development, analytical target profile thinking, Design of Experiments, ICH Q14/Q2(R2), and systematic method-performance evaluation.
Troubleshoot complex analytical challenges, evaluate emerging technologies, and establish standardized platform methods that improve robustness, throughput, automation, scalability, and deployment.
Author and review procedures, development reports, assessments, regulatory documentation, and support qualification, validation, technical transfer, implementation, and lifecycle management with cross-functional CMC, QC, manufacturing, digital, and quantitative-science partners.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 0–2 years of relevant experience; or M.S. with 8+ years; or B.S./B.A. with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Strong hands-on analytical method-development experience is required, including at least one relevant platform such as molecular assays, electrophoretic or microfluidic methods, immuno-based assays, or related analytical technologies.
Ability to plan and execute method-development experiments, interpret complex data, troubleshoot technical problems, and make data-driven recommendations.
Ability to collaborate across Analytical Development, Process Development, Analytical Sciences, APL, AS&T, QC, QA, Regulatory Affairs, Digital, Automation, and other multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to maintain scientific rigor, data integrity, laboratory safety, and high-quality documentation.
Nice to have
Experience with capillary electrophoresis, CE-SDS, cIEF/icIEF, microchip electrophoresis, automated gel electrophoresis, LabChip-type platforms, or related technologies.
Experience with automated protein or immuno-based platforms, ligand-binding assays, or quantitative biomolecular-analysis methods.
Experience with mRNA, RNA, plasmid DNA, lipid nanoparticles, vaccines, biologics, gene therapy, or other advanced therapeutic modalities.
Knowledge of analytical procedure lifecycle principles, including robustness assessment, qualification, validation, technical transfer, continued performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Experience with platform methods, standardized analytical approaches, emerging technologies, proof-of-concept studies, method modernization, or legacy-workflow replacement.
Experience with laboratory automation, liquid handling, high-throughput workflows, automated sample preparation, LIMS, sample tracking, or reproducible data processing.
Culture & Benefits
100% onsite work supporting hands-on collaboration, mentorship, and site-based operations.
In-person culture centered on platform thinking and digitizing work through code.
Healthcare and voluntary benefits, fitness, mindfulness, and mental-health support.
Family planning benefits, including fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support.
