Mainframe Modernization Expert (z/OS)

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and optimize Java runtime environments on z/OS using IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty.
• Deploy and maintain IBM z/OS Container Extensions (zCX) for containerized workloads on z/OS.
• Configure, enhance, and monitor RESTful APIs and integrations using z/OS Connect and Liberty server instances.
• Design centralized authentication and directory solutions using RACF, LDAP, MFA token logons, and secure zCX user integrations.
• Install and maintain workload automation tools, including HCL Dynamic Workload Console, and analyze z/OS system exits and utilities.
• Lead cross-functional architecture initiatives, resolve complex infrastructure bottlenecks, and mentor engineering teams.

Requirements

• Advanced technical depth in IBM z/OS architectures, system components, modern mainframe features, and system exits.
• Hands-on experience running, configuring, and tuning Java applications in IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty on z/OS.
• Expertise deploying and managing containerized workloads with IBM z/OS Container Extensions (zCX).
• Proficiency configuring, monitoring, and scaling RESTful services through z/OS Connect.
• Strong knowledge of IBM Security z/OS, RACF administration, user directory structures, and security exits.
• Deep understanding of LDAP integration, MFA token logons, and PassTickets.
• Strong diagnostic and analytical capabilities, including resolving root-cause technical issues in cross-functional focus groups.
• Customer focus, a growth mindset, and an inclusive, collaborative working style.

Nice to have

• Experience installing, administering, and integrating HCL Dynamic Workload Console or IBM Workload Automation tooling.
• Experience with enterprise performance monitoring and observability tools for z/OS Connect and WebSphere Liberty.
• Experience with system utilities and exits such as NetView and FTP exits, including DVGPRET$.
• Industry or vendor credentials in IBM Z systems programming, modernization architectures, or enterprise security.
