Technical Data SME (SQL)

What you will do

• Act as the subject matter expert for investment data, covering data structures, sourcing, transformation logic, and reporting outputs.
• Design, build, optimise, and oversee scalable data systems, pipelines, integrations, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Lead complex data analysis, data mining, root-cause investigations, and recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Design advanced data visualisation and reporting solutions and develop analytical tools that support data-driven decision-making.
• Define data quality, reliability, governance, standards, controls, monitoring, and remediation practices across client engagements.
• Partner with architects, product development, project management, clients, and senior stakeholders; provide technical leadership, scope work, manage risks, and mentor analysts and junior team members.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in investment data, including its structures, lifecycle, and common data challenges.
• Extensive hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms and big data technologies, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of database design and data warehouse principles, including modelling for scale and performance.
• Proven experience designing and delivering data integration and ETL/ELT processes, with expert-level data manipulation, cleansing, and transformation skills.
• Strong knowledge of data governance and data management best practices, with experience defining standards, design patterns, and controls.
• Proven ability to work with large datasets and perform data mining at scale.
• Track record of leading complex, client-facing data projects from design through delivery and making technical decisions that influence senior stakeholders.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, reporting, and visualisation, including experience in a senior or lead capacity.
• Bachelor's degree in data analytics, statistics, accounting, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Ability to mentor others, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and continuously improve individual and team capability.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office; excellent attention to detail, documentation, communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving ability, including independently resolving ambiguous and complex issues.
