Trainee PHP Developer (PHP)

Location: Offices in Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Uzhhorod, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Lutsk, Ukraine

What you will do

• Perform programming tasks covering analysis, coding, testing, and debugging of program logic.
• Develop algorithms and application code according to technical specifications and defined architecture.
• Apply standard algorithms where appropriate and maintain code structure, formatting, documentation, and naming conventions.
• Track changes and compare source code using the defined version control system.
• Agree task deadlines with a Senior Developer or Technical Leader.

Requirements

• Understanding of programming fundamentals and how software is built.
• Basic knowledge of PHP 8.4 and object-oriented programming; hands-on PHP experience is not mandatory.
• Openness to learning PHP with Laminas or writing backend code in Node.js.
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL, with familiarity with MySQL 8.4 or PostgreSQL 14.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs and familiarity with Git and Composer.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools for software development and the ability to define tasks and acceptance criteria, review and test generated output, and refine it rather than copy it without verification.
• Interest in a full-stack role and willingness to work across backend and frontend development.
• Upper-Intermediate English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with TypeScript and Angular 21.
• Experience with PHP or another backend language.
• Basic knowledge of Docker, NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, and PHPUnit or test writing.
• Interest in AWS services such as S3 or SQS.
• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI, Propel ORM, or microservices.
• Experience with third-party APIs such as PayPal or Google Analytics.
